KLM Royal Dutch Airlines came into existence in 1919 primarily for serving the Netherlands and its colonies. KLM, however, merged with Air France in 2004 and is now being operated as a part of Air France/KLM Group. KLM is presently the oldest airline in the world still operating under its original name despite its merger with Air France.

Destinations Served by KLM Airlines

KLM offers direct flights to key economic centers throughout the world. The airline operates a vast network of 92 European cities and 70 intercontinental destinations, including the USA, Canada, Latin America, Caribbean, Africa, Middle East, Asia, Central Asia, Southeast Asia, and Oceania.

KLM primarily offers three major travel classes on its long-haul international routes. These include World Business Class, Economy Comfort and Economy. The passengers travelling in either of these travel classes are offered personal screens with AVOD, satellite telephone and Wi-Fi services.

KLM World Business Class: KLM offers fully lie-flat in its long-haul World Business Class configured in a 1-2-1 layout. The perks offered to the premium customers include direct aisle access, storage area, personal 16-inch HD video screen for in-flight entertainment, luxurious bedding, complimentary three-course meal and amenity kits. The seats are equipped with a laptop power ports, massage function and privacy canopy. KLM’s Europe Business Class offered on short-haul routes offers seats which recline more than those in Economy Class, extra legroom and in-seat power.  

KLM Economy Comfort: KLM offers Economy Comfort to its customers as its premium economy class. The Economy Comfort seats offered on long-haul flights have 4 inches more pitch than those in Economy Class. The seats can also recline 40% more up to 5 inches than in Economy Class. Apart from the increased pitch and recline, the in-flight services offered in Economy Comfort are similar to those in Economy Class. The additional perks include priority boarding and priority disembarking.

KLM Economy Class: KLM offers a seat pitch of 31 to 32 inch and 17.5 inch width to the passengers travelling in Economy Class. The seats are equipped with adjustable headrests, a personal 9-inch screen with AVOD, a personal handset satellite telephone to be used for a fee, hot meals and snacks, and in-seat power for laptops.

KLM Baggage Allowance

KLM allows 2 carry-on bags and one personal item such as a laptop, camera or briefcase in World Business Class, while those flying in Economy Comfort and Economy Class are permitted to carry one bag and one personal item. As per its free checked baggage allowance policy, KLM allows 2 free checked bags in World Business Class with each weighing up to 32 kg, while those travelling on Standard and Flex fares in Economy Class are allowed one free checked baggage only of up to 23 kg.
